Van Gogh Visits St. Louis in Vintage Video
The Missouri History Museum has a vast array of videos in its Sound and Moving Images collection, which we occasionally share on our blog. Today I came across this gem from 1969, when the St. Louis Art Museum was known as the City Art Museum (it changed to its current name in 1971). In this video, which is a promotional piece for a traveling exhibit from the Netherlands, City Art Museum director Charles Buckley talks about painter Vincent Van Gogh's life and shows some of the masterpieces on display as part of the exhibit, including The Potato Eaters, The Sower, Sunflowers, and The Bedroom. Visit our YouTube channel to see our growing list of videos.
